The rupture occurred on Dr. E. Moses Road, leading to significant water loss and leaving several residential and commercial localities with little or no water supply. Areas affected by the disruption include Lamington Road, Grant Road East, Mumbai Central Station, Kamathipura, Agripada, Nagpada, Saat Rasta, and Worli Dhobi Ghat.
Following the incident, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation initiated emergency repair operations and stated that teams were working continuously to restore normal water supply. Civic authorities appealed to residents in the affected areas to conserve water and avoid unnecessary wastage until the repair work is completed and supply is fully resumed.
Officials said the large-scale leakage resulted in substantial loss of water, making conservation critical during the restoration process. The administration has not indicated a timeline for complete restoration but maintained that repair work is progressing on a war footing.
The pipeline rupture has once again exposed the vulnerability of Mumbai’s essential civic infrastructure, as thousands of residents across key neighbourhoods continue to face severe inconvenience amid disrupted water supply and emergency repair operations.
